The HydraFacial treatment is designed for all skin types. Even the most sensitive skin easily tolerates HydraFacials. The best part of Hydrafacial is customizing your treatment with a unique booster to tailor to your skin conditions and needs.
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid the treatment. Those with an autoimmune disease, HIV, lupus, hepatitis, scleroderma. Anyone with chronic skin conditions. Those with active, open skin issues, such as cold sores, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, sunburns, active acne [more severe grade of 3 or 4], and rosacea, should postpone treatment until their skin is calm again. Additionally, cystic acne should not be treated. Open skin issues can worsen with Hydrafacial as it can irritate and spread bacteria further.
Have been on Accutane or other similar medication in the past year. Any medications that cause photosensitivity. Have an active infection in the treatment area. Have melanoma or lesions suspected of malignancy. Have an active sunburn. Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Have epilepsy (if having LED light therapy).
Other contraindications that are not absolute and can be overwritten by a doctor include:
- Anticoagulants therapy (we will use lower settings).
- Very thin skin.
- Neuromodulators: wait 14 days.
- Filler: wait 14-30 days.
- Peels: wait 30 days.
- Laser treatments: wait until lesions heal, and swelling and redness are resolved.
- Keloids (we will avoid direct contact).
- Rosacea, telangiectasia (we will use a lower vacuum setting).
- Allergy towards shellfish
No, there is no downtime. However, please avoid direct sunlight and exfoliation for 48 hours due to skin sensitivity and apply a mineral sunscreen. Please also avoid use of retinols or harsh AHA & BHAs. “Purging” can also occur if it is your first or second treatment or have underlying congestion, please avoid Hydrafacial right before big events and plan on at least 1-2 weeks in advance for your last treatment before your special day.
Please be sure to avoid using retinols/tretinoin, harsh exfoliants or AHA & BHA's prior to appointment. Arrive makeup free, having skin cleansed and not by use of makeup wipes. Please reschedule if you have any open or active lesions, acne, infections of any kind, or an active sunburn.
Results last around 4-6 weeks. It is recommended to have an appointment monthly in order to maintain results and keep up with cell turnover in order to generate improvement and the best results.
While one treatment will show some results, it is recommended to have a series of at least 3+ treatments monthly to achieve optimal results and start to see significant changes.
It is not recommended to do a Hydrafacial a couple days before your wedding. “Purging” can occur if it is your first or second treatment or have underlying congestion. Please avoid Hydrafacial right before big events (weddings) and plan on at least 1-2 weeks in advance for your last treatment before your special day.
